Bobcats Drop Basketball Game To North Clarion (01/25/14) JVs Win Thriller

The homestanding Clarion Boys Basketball Team dropped a 69-31 decision to the North Clarion Wolves, on Friday night.

The Wolves built an 11-4 first period lead and never looked back. They increased the lead to 32-11, at the half. North Clarion extended the lead to 49-16, after three.

Brendan Miller was the Bobcats’ top scorer with nine points. He also had 7 rebounds and three blocks. Taylor Smith had eight points and Cody Hearst scored seven. Levi Barger had 3 points and Derek Lauer had two.

Evan Cyphert had 17 points for the Wolves, followed by Christian Cyphert, with 16 and Zayn Hargenrader, with fourteen.

The JVs won an exciting, two overtime, one-point, 50-49, game.

The Wolves led 28-22, after three periods, but the Bobcats outscored them 15-9, in the fourth, to knot the score at 37-all, at the end of regulation.

The first overtime saw each team score five points, forcing a second overtime, with the score tied at 42. But with less than 10 seconds left in the second overtime, Ryan Anthony sank the game winning, free throw to secure the victory.

Nadir Lynch led the Bobcat JVs, with nine points. Derek Lauer had 8. Ryan Anthony and Craig Kerr scored seven. Reed Anthony had six points, on two 3-pointers, Micheal Bartley had 5 points, while Ty Burford and Luke Nellis had two apiece.

The Wolves’ Joe Mays led all scorers with 15. Dan Sherbine and Kyle Gadly also scored in double figures with 12 and 11 respectively.

The Bobcats will host Keystone, on Saturday, with the JVs scheduled to start at 4:00 and the Varsity at 5:30.
