Boys Basketball Team Falls To Venango Catholic (02/12/14)

The Clarion Area Boys Basketball Team fell to homestanding Venango Catholic, 74-42, at Monsignor Antoun Gymnasium, on Tuesday. The Vikings led 18-10, after the first period and 34-25 at the half. After three periods, VC led 56-37.

Antonio Troese led the Bobcats with fourteen points. Ellis Painter and Brendan Miller each scored eight. Levi Barger and Steven Smathers had 4 points apiece, while Taylor Smith and Ty Burford each registered two points.

For the Vikings, Devin Zagar had 29 points, followed by Scott Toy had 25 and Jacob Hale, with eleven.

The Bobcat JVs lost 66-53. They were down by just one point, after the first period, 16-15. The Vikings were up by five at the half, 40-35 and by three, at the end of three, 52-49.

Reed Anthony led the Clarion JVs, with nine points, including two 3-pointers. Michael Bartley and Thomas Plummer had eight points apiece, Nadir Lynch had 4 points, Ryan Anthony scored 3 points and Luke Nellis chipped in with two.

Noah Puleo had 28 points for the Viking JVs, followed by Luke Plumer and Eric Hidinger, with 13 apiece.

The Bobcats will close out the regular season, tonight, (Wednesday, February 12), by hosting West Forest. This will be Senior Night, with the ceremony between games.
