Jon Kemmer Starts Professional Career (06/21/13)

Former Clarion High School and Clarion Little League baseball player, Jon Kemmer began his professional career for the Tri-City (Albany, Troy, Schenectady, NY) Valley Cats of the New York-Penn League this week. The team plays in Troy.

Jon began his career with the Houston Astros affiliate, on Monday against the Vermont Lake Monsters, in Burlington VT, with a four for four night, including a home run in his first ever professional at bat. He had two RBIs in the game.

The Valley Cats swept the three game series against Vermont, and began a three game series, at home, against the Lowell (MA) Spinners.  Both teams were undefeated heading into Thursday’s game. The Valley Cats won 8-2, in 11 innings. Jon had 3 RBIs.

You can follow Jon’s progress on the Valley Cats website or the New York Penn League site (which were used for this article). The Clarion Sports Zone will give periodic updates also.

For those wanting to see Jon in action, the Valley Cats have two series coming up within a short driving distance. They will visit the Mahoning Valley Scrappers on Wednesday, July 10th through Friday, July 12th. Mahoning Valley plays at Eastwood Field in Niles, just outside Youngstown.

On Tuesday, July 30th through Thursday, August 1st, the Valley Cats will visit the State College Spikes, at Lubrano Park.

Directions to each field can be found on the Teams’ websites.
