Junior High Boys Basketball A-Team Downs Clarion-Limestone On Thursday (01/31/14)

(By Coach Quinn)

The Clarion Jr. High Boys A-Team took their show on the road for a second time this year.  We traveled to C-L, on Thursday, where the boys put another checkmark in the “Win” column with a 42-31 victory over the Lions.

The Jr. High Bobcats came out of the gate on fire, scoring 15 points in the first quarter, thanks in-part to a very aggressive defense. Several boys scored in the first. Spencer Miller, Zach Bauer, Cam Craig, Christian Smith, and Cam Hearst all put up at least one bucket.

Our defense shifted in the second quarter, which lead to quick scores on offense for Miller, Craig, and Smith.

In the second half, the scoring slowed as the boys worked on their half-court offense. I was very impressed with the way our boys rebounded the basketball. Jimmy Smathers was a beast on the boards. Spencer Miller and Nick Cherico also did a nice job.

All the boys saw minutes in the game.

Christian Smith paced all scorers with 13 points including one 3-pointer. Cam Craig also put in 12 points in the victory and was perfect from the foul line, going six for six.

Spencer Miller, Zach Bauer, Nick Cherico and Cam Hearst all had strong performances on defense in the Bobcat victory.

Our next contest will be on Monday when we take on the Keystone Panthers on our home court.

Note:  We are trying to reschedule the game with North Clarion that was canceled, for a later date in February. As soon as that information is available, it will be passed on to you.
