Kyla Miles Leads Lady Cats To Victory Over Cranberry (02/09/14)

Led by Kyla Miles’ 26 points, 8 rebounds and three assists, the Clarion High Girls Basketball downed Cranberry 56-46, at the Berry Dome, on Saturday.

The score was tied 10-all, after one. A 14-7 Lady Cat advantage, in the second period, gave Clarion a 24-17 lead. The Lady Berries outscored Clarion 18-13, in the third, giving Clarion a narrow 37-35 lead heading into the last stanza. But the Lady Cats came back big in the fourth outscoring their opponents by eight points, 19-11, in the fourth to claim the ten point victory.

Maci Thornton joined Miles, in double figures, with fourteen points. She also had 4 rebounds, a pair of steals and three assists. Grace Kroh just missed double figures and a double-double, with 9 points, 11 rebounds and a steal.  Laken Ganoe had 7 points and 7 rebounds and Anna Reed scored a point.

Emily Merryman led the Lady Berries with twenty-eight points.

The JVs dropped their game to the Berries by a narrow 30-27 score. The game was tied 8-all after one. Then a three-point 11-8, Clarion scoring edge in the second period, gave the Cats a 19-16 halftime lead. Cranberry outscored Clarion 8-3 in the third and took a 24-22 lead into the fourth quarter. A 6-5 Cranberry edge in the last quarter set the final.

Kelly Beveridge led the Clarion JVs with 12 points, including 3 treys, a pair of steals and a rebound. Gloria Kroh followed with 5 points and 9 rebounds. Anna Reed had 4 points and a rebound, Nicki Glenn had 2 points and 2 rebounds, Maddy Weaver had 2 points, 5 steals and a pair of rebounds and Lauren Wiser scored 2 points and had a steal and a rebound. Keanna Over and Jenna Beichner had 3 and 2 rebounds respectively.

The Lady Cats will host Venango Catholic on Monday.
