Lady Cats Defeat Both A-C Valley And Redbank Valley (02/03/14)

The homestanding Lady Cats Basketball Team defeated the Lady Falcons of A-C Valley on Senior Night, on Friday 65-44 (there was no JV game against A-C Valley), and defeated the Lady Bulldogs, 62-61, in triple overtime, on Saturday. The Lady Cat JVs were victorious, 33-21.

Seniors, Kyla Miles, Grace Kroh, Laken Ganoe, Paige Weaver, Kate Beichner, Olivia Bartley and Emily Reiner (Bookkeeper) were honored for their fine careers with the Lady Cats.

Leading Clarion, in the 65-44 win, was Miles with 22 points, 5 rebounds and a steal. Joining Miles in double figures was Maci Thornton and Grace Kroh. Thornton had 16 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and 5 assists, while Kroh had 10 points, 4 rebounds and three steals.

Olivia Bartley had 6 points and three rebounds. Paige Weaver had 4 points, 3 rebounds and a steal, Lauren Wiser had 4 points, 2 rebounds and a steal, Laken Ganoe scored 2 points and had 4 rebounds, 3 steals and an assist, Nicki Glenn had 1 point, a rebound, a block and 2 steals and Kate Beichner had a rebound.

Redbank Game

In Saturday’s Varsity game, Redbank Valley held a 9-7 lead after one. But Clarion came back to lead 19-15 at the half. A 14-13, Lady Bulldog advantage, in the third made the score, Clarion 32 – Redbank Valley 29. And a 14-11 Lady Bulldog advantage in the fourth, knotted the score at 43-all to force overtime.

Each team scored 10 points in the first overtime and 2 points in the second overtime. A 7-6, Lady Cat scoring edge, in overtime number three, capped by a bucket by Maci Thornton as time ran out, set the one point, 62-61 final.

Kyla Miles led the Lady Cats with 29 points, including a 3-pointer. She just missed a double-double by gathering in 9 rebounds, to go along with 3 steals and two blocks. Maci Thornton scored 21 points, two of them being 3-pointers, and she did get the double-double by pulling down 10 boards. Thornton also had 4 steals and two assists.

Grace Kroh had 5 points, 10 rebounds, 3 steals, an assist and a block. Laken Ganoe had 5 points, 2 rebounds and two steals and Anna Reed had 2 points, 5 rebounds and a steal.

The Lady Cat JVs led their game 15-5 after one quarter, 21-9, at the half and 23-12 after three. A 10-9, Clarion advantage, in the last stanza, set the final at, Clarion 33- Redbank Valley 21.

Kelly Beveridge led the Clarion JVs with 9 points, including two 3-pointers, 4 rebounds and a steal. Gloria Kroh had 7 points, 7 rebounds and a steal. Anna Reed had 6 points, a steal and two rebounds. Nicki Glenn had 5 points, including a trey, and a steal.

Keanna Over scored 2 points and had two steals. Jenna Beichner had 2 points and a steal and Maddison Weaver had two points. Julie Kenneson had 4 rebounds, Sophie Wolf had two rebounds and a steal and Lauren Wiser had a rebound and a steal.

The Lady Cats will travel to Clarion-Limestone on Monday.
