Lady Cats Drop Close Contest To Lady Vikings (02/11/14)

The Clarion Girls Basketball Team suffered their first KSAC North loss, falling at home, to Venango Catholic 52-47, on Monday.

Clarion led 13-10, after one and 22-19 at the half. But a 17-9 Lady Vikings’ advantage in the third period, gave Venango Catholic a 36-31 lead going into the fourth. Each team scored 16 points in the last stanza to set the final. The Lady Cats are now 8-1, in the KSAC North and 16-5 overall.

Kyla Miles and Maci Thornton led the Lady Cats with 16 points apiece, followed by Laken Ganoe with seven points. Megan Glenn had 6 points and Grace Kroh had two.

Lindsey Homan led Venango Catholic with 21 points, followed by Ava Homan’s fourteen.

The Bobcat JVs also lost their contest, falling by a 20-16 score, in overtime, in a game using abbreviated quarters. The Vikings led 2-0, after one and 8-2, at halftime. An 8-3, Clarion edge, in the third, closed the gap to just one point, 11-10 as the teams headed to the fourth. A 5-4, Clarion advantage, in the fourth, knotted the score at 15-all sending the game into overtime, where the Vikings outscored the Bobcats 5-1 to set the final.

Kelly Beveridge, Nicki Glenn, Maddison Weaver and Gloria Kroh each had three points, for the Clarion JVs. Beveridge’s and Glenn’s points came by way of treys. Julie Kenneson and Sophie Wolf each had two points.

The Lady Cats will travel to Tionesta, tonight (Tuesday, February 11), to play the West Forest Lady Indians.
