Then on Wednesday, the girls traveled to North Clarion to take on the Lady Wolves. Coach Bevevino shared a recap of the Clarion-North Clarion matches, as well as a summary of the season.

Last night our 7th grade team won 25-17, 25-8, & 21-25. The 8th grade team won 25-11, 25-13, & 25-20. Top scorers for the 7th grade team were Wendy Beveridge 15 points and Dottie Kalinowski 18 points. Top scorer for the 8th graders was Alexa Kriebel 13 points.

The 7th graders ended the season with a 3-3 record while the 8th graders finished 5-1.

Overall the season was very successful.

There were vast improvements with the 7th grade team. We don’t take the easy road when teaching the girls the game of volleyball. We force them to learn how to serve overhand and we strive to run offense every time the ball comes on our side of the court. That can sometimes be frustrating for the 7th graders, but when it finally all comes together, it is well worth it. If our 7th grade team now could play our 7th grade team from three weeks ago, the team now would beat that team badly.

I’m very proud of what they were able to accomplish and look forward to coaching them next season.

The 8th grade team had a very rewarding season. In our one loss, I don’t feel like we were on our game that night. The rest of the season we played very well.

Many of our 8th graders participated in our club program and we just continued in Junior High where they left off. I had them work on some advanced skills for 8th graders and they were able to be victorious with them. There were about 5 players that I had jump serve in games, while I had a few more working on it in practice.

These 8th graders are going to be the core of the JV team next fall and they should be able to transition into that quite easily. This class has a ton of talent and potential and I’m excited to see what their future holds.

Thanks to Coach Bevevino for the summary and Congratulations to the Lady Cat Junior High Volleyball Teams on a successful season!!!!!
