Track Teams Fall To North Clarion And Keystone (04/11/14)

The Clarion Area Girls Track Team traveled to North Clarion on Wednesday, to take on the Lady Wolves and the Lady Panthers, from Keystone. The boys traveled to Keystone, that same day to compete against the same schools.

The Lady Cats fell to North Clarion 77-70 and Keystone 77-64, while the Bobcats  lost to the Wolves 87-62 and to the Panthers, by just a point 75-74.

For the Lady Cats, against North Clarion:

Grace Kroh was a triple winner, taking the 200 (31.2), the Shot Put (27-10.5) and the 4×100 Relay (56.4) along with Kelly Beveridge, Laken Ganoe and Madison Weaver. Kroh also finished second to Ganoe in the Triple Jump. Ganoe’s distance in the Triple was 33-8.75. She also took a second in the Long and High Jumps behind Weaver, in the Long (15-1) and Julie Kenneson in the High (4-10). Weaver finished third in the 200 and tied teammates Brooke McMaster and Nicki Glenn for third in the High Jump.

Forest Mills finished second in the 1600 and third in the 800. Gloria Kroh had a second in the 300 Hurdles and a third in the 100 Hurdles. Katie Eustice had a second in the 100 Hurdles and Jenn Ochs took first in the Javelin (110-3) and finished second in both the Shot and Discus. Kyla Miles finished second in the 100.

Other Lady Cats getting thirds against the Wolves were: Chelsea Mason in the 400, Claire Saylor in the Shot Put and Jenna Beichner in the Discus.

In the contest against Keystone: Mills had two firsts, running a 2:57 in the 800 and a 6:01 in the 1600. Miles won the 100 (14.1), Weaver won the Long Jump, Ganoe won the Triple Jump, Grace Kroh won the Shot Put and Ochs won the Javelin.

Ganoe finished second in the High Jump. Grace Kroh took seconds  in the 200 and Triple Jump. also taking seconds were Ochs in the Discus and Hannah Frakes in the 3200. Taking thirds for the Lady Cats were: Ochs (Shot Put), Mason (400 and 800), Eustice (100 Hurdles), Gloria Kroh (300 Hurdles) and Paige Weaver, Brooke McMaster and Nicki Glenn (tie – High Jump).

The Boys breakdown against each school was not available. But following is how they finished overall, in the three team meet.

Ian Corbett was a quadruple winner, taking the 100 (11.5), 200 (24.6), Long Jump (18-9.25) and the 4x100Relay (46.3), with Cody Hearst, Zach Hill and Matt Wagner. Liam Raehsler was a double winner, taking the 1600 (5:03.0) and the 3200 (10:49.0).

Taking seconds for the Bobcats were: Josh Krieble, in the 110 Hurdles, Antonio Troese in the 800 and Ty Burford in the Triple Jump. Adam Bettwy took thirds in the 1600 and the 3200. Hill took a third in the High Jump.

The Boys and Girls Teams will both travel to A-C Valley on Tuesday.
