Freshman Baseball Team Downs Oil City (06/17/14)

The Clarion Freshman Baseball Team hosted Oil City last Wednesday (06/11) and came away with a 2-1 win. The Bobcats scored their runs in the first and fifth innings; the Oilers’ score came in the second. The Bobcats had a close advantage in hits also, with three to the Oilers’ two.

Adrian Weber had two hits for Clarion and Max Lane had the other.

Coach Lee Weber praised both players, “(Adrian) Weber went 2 for 2, with a sac fly and had a couple of nice scoops at 1B, but overall I think (Max) Lane had an heck of a game. On the mound, he gave up 1 run, 2 hits, and 2 BB over 5 innings. At the plate, he reached base all 3 times and scored on 2 of them, including the winning run. For his excellent game, he was named player of the game.” Lane also recorded five strikeouts.

Derek Lauer had an RBI for the Bobcats.

Clarion will host Cranberry, next Tuesday (06/24) and travel to Oil City next Thursday (06/26).
