The tournament began two weeks ago (Aug. 2-3) and after teams finished pool play, heavy rains delayed the championship game until this past weekend.

Tri-City went 3-0 in pool play defeating All American Softball (Pittsburgh) 10-1, Union City Ice 12-1, and Centre County Slam (State College) 2-0 to claim the #1 seed.

In the championship tilt on Saturday, Tri-City defeated the Punxsy Purranahs (top seed from the other pool) 12-1 to claim the championship.

The Tri-City Thunder is a travel softball team made up of players from Titusville, Franklin, and Clarion. The Thunder played in 7 tournaments this summer, winning 4 of them with an overall record of 28-6.

(Thanks to Coach Constantino for this story. Congratulations to the Thunder for winning the Groundhog Tournament and on an outstanding season!!!!)
