A Summer To Remember – Clarion Dugout (09/04/14)

The Dugout sponsored 8 and Under team here in Clarion have given themselves, their families and all of the fans that followed them a summer to remember. This young team of all-stars had an amazing record of 25-1, winning 5 tournaments around western Pennsylvania.

Dan Estadt Memorial Tournament Champions – Clarion Dugout

The first tournament trophy was earned in Punxsutawney, then the Kirby Hetrick Memorial in Brookville. The next tournament led them to St. Mary’s, where they bested 11 other teams to secure first place. After winning first again in Curwensville, the next trip brought them home here in Clarion, where they won the Dan Estadt Memorial.

The Dugout’s success is because of each member of the team: Dawson Smail, Jase Ferguson, Tommy Smith, Brayden Murray, Gabe Simko, Devin Lauer, Bryce Brinkley, Jake Smith, Jack Callen, Nick Aaron, Derek Smail, Owen Kriebel, Kohen Kemmer and Tanner Miller.

The head coach and coaching staff are Bill Smith, David Smail, Mike Ferguson and Chad Murray. All of the coaches and families of the team have given an amazing level of dedication and time as well as travel to help this young team achieve their goals.

It is impossible to sum up the great plays that I have witnessed this summer in one short article. I will end this with the memory that makes me smile as I think back on the summer of 2014. As the Dugout takes the field, a question is shouted to them. “What’s the fastest way off this field Dugout?!?” The answer is sudden and to the point as all of them respond in unison, “THREE OUTS!”, followed by “Let’s Get Them!!”

Congrats Dugout, you did go get them….five tournaments and 24 wins in a row.
