(By Boys’ Golf Coach Jay Kerle)

The Clarion Boys’ Golf Team finished 7th in the KSAC this year. Individually, the team was led by Jared Bish and Derek Lauer. Derek finished the season 6th in the KSAC, with a scoring average of 42.2 and finished 10th at Districts. He should receive KSAC First Team Honors. Jared finished the regular season 1st in the KSAC, with a scoring average of 39 and should receive MVP Honors for the second year. He finished 3rd at Districts and advanced to Regionals for the second time.

Jared brought his solid and consistent game to Regionals at Tom’s Run this year. He carded an 80 in the windy conditions to tie for 17th in the tournament. The top 22 advanced to the state championship that will be played on October 20 & 21 at Heritage Hills in York.

I don’t really know how to put it in words how big of an accomplishment this is for Jared. I know the feeling myself since I experienced it. I can’t wait to go with Jared, 16 years later as a coach and watch and share the experience with him.

Congratulations Jared for your accomplishments this season.

The Girls’ Golf Team had a solid year winning all but one of the Mega Matches they competed in as a team. They finished 3rd as a team at Districts. Claire Saylor had the low scoring average for the season with a 49.5. Claire finished 3rd at Districts but did not advance because she did not meet the score cut off of under 100.
