Lady Cat Volleyball Team Claims Fifth Straight KSAC Title With Victory Over North Clarion, Fall In Quarterfinals At NA Tourney (10/18/14)

Coach Shari Campbell’s Clarion Area Volleyball Team captured their fifth straight KSAC Championship and finished 12-0, in conference play, with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-5) victory over homestanding North Clarion, on Thursday (October 16).

Through Thursday night the Lady Cats overall record is 26-7-2, in a schedule that has them playing some of the best schools, any size, in the state.

Jen Ochs, Anna McNamara and Anna Reed each had  big nights for the Cats. Ochs scored 12 service points (5 aces) and also had 10 digs and four kills. McNamara also had 12 service points (5 aces) and 6 digs, 3 kills and three assists. Reed had 10 service points (2 aces) and eight digs.

Olivia Burns finished with 9 service points (4 aces), 2 kills and two digs. Katie Eustice had her usual solid night setting her teammates, with fourteen assists. She also had 4 service points and five digs.

Morgan Dehneer had four service points. Johnna Rapp scored one service point.  Gloria Kroh had 7 kills and a dig. Keanna Over had 2 digs and a kill. Sophie Wolf had a dig and a kill, as did Maya Thornton and Brooke Allen had a dig.

Then today (Saturday, October 18) The Lady Cats competed in the North Allegheny Tournament in Wexford. Clarion opened with 25-14 and 25-18 wins over the Lady Foxes of Fox Chapel, then they dropped two to the host Lady Tigers, by the same 25-14 and 25-18 scores. The Cats then went 1-1 against the Hickory Lady Hornets, losing 25-21, then winning25-19.

Next up, the Lady Panthers from Upper St. Clair. Clarion won this one game contest 25-13, moving them to the quarter-finals, where they would face Mt. Lebanon. The Lady Blue Devils took two straight, 25-17 and 25-0 eliminating the Bobcats.

Jen Ochs had a fine tournament with 33 service points (4 aces), 28 kills and thirty digs. Olivia Burns followed with 23 service points (6) aces, 17 kills, an assist and twelve digs.

Anna McNamara scored 17 service points (3 aces). She also had 7 assists, 14 kills and fourteen digs. Katie Eustice dished out sixty-assists for the tournament. She also collected 7 service points (3 aces), 4 kills and nineteen digs. Gloria Kroh scored 14 service points had 8 kills, an assist and a dig. Keanna Over had 10 service points, 10 kills and fourteen digs. Sophie Wolf had 7 service points, 4 kills, an assist and two digs.

Anna Reed had 29 digs and an assist, Johnna Rapp had an ace and two digs and Brooke Allen had a dig.

Next Saturday (October 25) the Lady Cats compete in the Fort LeBoeuf Tournament at Waterford.
