Lady Cats Advance To District Nine Volleyball Semis (10/30/14)

Coach Shari Campbell’s Clarion Area Lady Cats Volleyball Team won both their Opening Round Match, on Tuesday (October, 28)  and their Quarter-Final Match, on Thursday (October, 30), in the PIAA District Nine Class-A Tournament.

The Lady Cats will now move on to St. Marys, on Saturday (November 11), where they will compete in the first Semi-Final Match, beginning at 9:30 AM. The second Semi- Final Match will begin at 11:00 AM. The Championship Match will be held at 1:30 PM.

The Lady Cats downed the Otto-Eldred Lady Terrors, in the Opening Round Match, held at Clarion Area High School, on Tuesday, 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-10).

Then in the Quarter-Finals, at Clarion University’s Tippin Gym, they defeated the Redbank Valley Lady Bulldogs 3-0 (25-10, 25-21, 25-17).

In the Opening Round Contest, Jen Ochs had 22 points on serve, including 6 aces. She also had 11 digs and two kills. Anna McNamara had 15 points on serve (8 aces), 15 kills 2 assists and four digs.

Katie Eustice scored 12 points on serve (7 aces), 24 assists, 3 kills and thirteen digs. Anna Reed had 7 points on serve (an ace) and 10 digs.

Olivia Burns had 6 kills and four digs. Gloria Kroh had six kills and Keanna Over had three digs. In the Quarter-Final Match, Katie Eustice scored 15 points, five of them aces, 2 kills 5 digs and twenty-two assists. Anna McNamara had 8 points on serve, 5 aces, 6 kills and four digs.

Also for the Lady Cats: Olivia Burns had 9 points, 4 aces, a kill and two digs. Anna Reed had 13 digs and seven points on serve. Jenn Ochs had 6 points on serve, 4 aces, 7 kills and sixteen digs. Keanna Over registered 9 digs and four kills and Gloria Kroh had five kills.

The Lady Cats’ overall record now stands at 31-9-2.
