With the rain we received throughout the day and during much of the game, the field conditions were less than ideal. But both teams made the most of it and provided a very exciting contest that ended with the Lady Elkers coming away with a one-point, 3-2 win.

Clarion opened the scoring with 18:29 left in the first half as Forest Mills kicked the ball from the right side of the field, to Maci Thornton, who was several feet from the post. Thornton headed the ball past the ECC goalie, to give the Cats a 1-0 lead.

The Elkers would then score twice in the half, to take a 2-1 lead. The first came from Marissa Henry, with 9:11 left and the other came from Sam Zimmerman, with 35 seconds remaining.

The Bobcats tied the score at 2-all, with 5:53 left in the game, as Thornton showed some great moves and ball handling, advancing the ball through several Elker defenders and putting the ball into the middle of the net.

But the Elkers’ Erin Petrosky scored the deciding goal with 3:39 left to seal the 3-2 victory.

In spite of the loss, it was a very successful year for the Lady Cats Soccer Team. Eight seniors played their last game for Clarion: Thornton, Ally Fryer, Callie Freenock, Nicki Glenn, Bailey Heeter, Kortney Kemmer and Emily Powers. Congratulations to these girls and the rest of the team for their fine season!!!!
