Clarion Junior High Girls Basketball Teams Split With Moniteau (12/13/14)

“A” Game – Moniteau 36 Clarion 35 (OT)

Clarion’s Junior High Girls’ “A” team lost a heart breaker to Moniteau on Friday (December 12) afternoon in overtime 36-35. Clarion held a five-point lead heading into the final quarter and saw the Lady Warriors battle back to send the game into an extra frame.

In the overtime, the lead went back and forth between the two squads until Moniteau took the lead with a free throw with 10 seconds left in the contest. Clarion had one last chance to win the game but could not get the ball to drop on a last second shot. The difference in the game came at the foul line.  Moniteau made 16 out of 23 free throws for the game. Clarion was 3 for 10 from the foul line.

Wendy Beveridge had a monster game for Clarion scoring 25 points. Kaylie Lutz finished with 4 and Dorothy Kalinowski had 3. Carly Best had 2
points and Courtney Reiner finished with 1.

“B” Game – Clarion 12 Moniteau 9

Clarion’s “B” team won their fourth game in a row, outlasting Moniteau in the opening game. Clarion trailed 4-3 at the half 8-5 after three
quarters. The Lady Cats used a strong fourth quarter and outscored the Lady Warriors 7-1 to get the win.

Kaitlyn Constantino led the Cats with 6 points and was 4-6 from the foul line in the fourth quarter.

Kaylie Lutz and Ali Troese each made two points. Kyara Girvan and Cassie Acey both made one foul shot from the foul line to finish the scoring for Clarion.
