D9Sports.com announced their 2014 Rehab Centre Post-Season Football Award winners earlier this week and Bobcat senior running back/linebacker Ian Corbett  was named the winner of the First Annual Jim Kelly Award as the District Nine MVP. The Award is in honor of the former East Brady, University of Miami, Houston Gambler and Buffalo Bills quarterback. Kelly is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Corbett, who joins fellow Bobcats Bubba Rue (2009) and Damien Slike (2013) as MVP’s, led District Nine in rushing, this season, with 2,000 yards. He is the first player from the Little 7-12/KSAC to reach the 2000 yard milestone. He averaged 11.7 yards per carry and had 32 rushing touchdowns, 5 receiving touchdowns, a touchdown on a kickoff return and a defensive score. He had 298 receiving yards. On defense he had   4.8 tackles per game, 5 1/2 sacks, a fumble recovery and three interceptions.

Corbett finished second to Dubois quarterback Gabe French in voting for Offensive Player of the Year. He also finished second to Redbank Valley’s Jake Dougherty for Individual Performance of the Year. Each player was selected for their play in the Bobcat/Bulldog match-up on October 24th. That contest was named the Game of the Year.

Bobcat Colton Rapp finished second to Curwensville’s Nick Stewart for Rookie of the Year. Both are just freshmen. Colton rushed for 616 yards, the most ever by a Clarion freshman, and was a major force on defense.

Kane linebacker James Lingenfelter was named Defensive Player of the Year. Karns City’s Ed Conto was named Coach of the Year and the Gremlin’s Dalton Callihan earned the Offensive Lineman of the Year Award.  Brockway kicker Jarrett Esposito is this year’s Special Teams Player of the Year.

Yours truly is humbled and honored to be named Co-Special Contributor Award winner along with Announcer Barry Morgan from The Hound, 97.5 FM in Ridgway and on B-94, 93.9 FM in St. Marys. Any who know him will attest that Mr. Morgan is one class individual. I also get to join two other Bobcats, who received this award, assistant coach/statistician Alex Arth (2007) and equipment manager Kevin “Fonzie” Slike (2011). Again, two class individuals.

Congratulations to Ian and all of this year’s awardees!!!! Thank you to Chris Rossetti and the others at D9Sports.com and the Rehab Sports Center for presenting these yearly awards.
