Bobcat Varsity Wrestlers Down Punxsutawney (01/20/15)

The Clarion Area Wrestling squad hosted Punxsutawney on Tuesday, and came away with a 43-30 victory.

The Bobcats came out strong, building a 33-0 lead. The Cats had a 6-5 edge in contested matches.

The match started at 195, where Alexander Burkhart scored a 9-6 decision. Zach Sintobin followed at 220, by registering a fall at 3:34, to give the Cats a 9-0 lead. Zack Huet increased the lead to 15-0 by pinning his opponent in 24 seconds, in the 285 lb. match. Alex Struble received a forfeit at 106. Then Riley McMaster registered a pin at 1:34, in the match at 113, making the score 27-0, Bobcats.

There was a double forfeit at 120. Then Caleb Bailey picked up a forfeit at 126 to give Clarion a 33-0 lead.

The Chucks first points came at 132, with Elijah Lambiotte winning by fall, making the score Clarion 30 – Punxsy 6. Then Bobcat 138 pounder, Zach Dotterer pinned his opponent in 59 seconds. Colton Rapp followed with a 14-3 major decision, at 145 to move the Bobcat’s lead to 43-6.

Punxutawney wrestlers recorded falls in the final four matches, Kaleb Young at 152, Perry Arrington at 160, Travis Perry at 170 and Keegan Fischer at 182, to set the final at 43-30 Bobcats.

The Bobcats will compete in the Fred Bell Tournament at Grove City, this weekend (January 23rd and 24th).
