Girls Basketball: Lady Cats Drop Two Close Games (01/30/15)

The Clarion Area Varsity Basketball Team dropped two close games against tough opponents earlier this week. On Tuesday (January 27th) they fell, at home, to Venango Catholic 40-36 and on Wednesday (January 28th) they lost at Redbank Valley, 36-33.

The Lady Cats led most of the way in the game against the Lady Vikings. In fact VC had only one lead until the last 10 seconds of the game, a 3-2 advantage in the first quarter.

Clarion led 13-8, after one, 19-13 at halftime and 29-21 after three periods.

The Bobcats were up by seven with about two and a half minutes left but the Vikings would score the games final eleven points to seal the win.

Maci Thornton led the Cats with 12 points, followed by Lauren Wiser, with 8 and Anna Reed with seven. Gloria Kroh had 4 points, Nickie Glenn had 3 and Julie Kenneson scored two.

Ava Homan had 19 for VC, and Taylor Moltz had fourteen.

The Lady Cats led 12-10, after one, against Redbank Valley. The game was knotted at 18-all, at halftime. and the Cats led by one, 25-14, after three quarters. But a 12-8 Lady Bulldog advantage in the fourth, set the 36-33 final.

Thornton again led the Cats, scoring eighteen points. Reed had 7 points, Glenn scored 6 and Wiser had two.

Brooke Hinderliter led Redbank with 15 and Becca Dougherty had ten.

The Lady Cats are scheduled to host Cranberry today (January 30th).
