Maci Thornton Selected To Sportsmanship I All-Star Game (03/18/15)

The rosters for the 15th Annual Sportsmanship I / Clarion County YMCA All-Star Games, which will be played  at the Clarion High School gymnasium on Saturday, March 18th, have been announced.

The Games will feature top seniors from around District 9. Among those named  is Lady Bobcat Maci Thornton, who was recently named the Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference’s Girls’ MVP. Maci finished her Clarion High Career with 1575 points, including 568 this past season. She also had 225 rebounds and 125 steals during her senior campaign. She was named All-State as a junior; this season’s All-State Teams haven’t been announced yet.

Thornton will be a member of the Girls’ Blue Squad. Other KSAC players joining Thornton on the Blue Team will be Allison Guth from Venango Catholic, Erin Logue from A-C Valley, Shanel Preston from Karns City. Stephanie McCall from Moniteau was also selected to the squad but will not play due to injury.

Also on the Blue Squad  are:  Cameron County’s Susie Guisto, Julia Sweeney from Elk County Catholic, Somer Buchsenschutz from Port Allegany,  Juli Esposito from Brockway, Morgan Okerlund from Smethport and Melody Young from Otto-Eldred.

The coaches for the Blue Squad will be Ken Pistner of  Elk County Catholic  and Dave Sullivan of Cameron County.

KSAC players on the Girls’ White Squad will be Madison Johnson from Keystone, Mikaela Bean from Forest Area, Annie Hegedus from Karns City and Venango Catholic’s Taylor Moltz.

Also on the White Squad are: Ciara Strickland from Curwensville, Taylor Morgan from Kane, Macy Neureiter from Elk Co. Catholic, Anna Colebert from Otto-Eldred, Nicole DiPietro from Punxsutawney and Bradford’s Rylee Lundgren. Jen Isenberg from Sheffield also was selected but will be unable to play because of an injury.

Dave Kerschbaumer of Karns City and Tom McNellie of Venango Catholic will coach the White Squad.

The Boy’s Red Squad will include the following KSAC players: Christian Cyphert from North Clarion, Alex Graf from Keystone, Jake Dougherty from Redbank Valley, David Olszak from Karns City and Kolton Stiglitz from Clarion-Limestone.

Others on the Red Squad are: Mitchell Struble and Ryan Seelye from Elk County Catholic, Dane Aucker from DuBois Central Catholic, Erik Sellers from Clearfield and Keith Spehalski from Cameron County. Cole Kriner from DuBois was selected but cannot play due to injury.

Clarion-Limestone’s Joe Ferguson and Redbank Valley’s Greg Bean will Coach the Red Squad.

KSAC players on the Boys’ Blue Squad include: Devin Shumaker from Redbank Valley, Scott Toy from Venango Catholic, Janco Swart from Cranberry and Moniteau’s Cody Skiver and James Bair.

Others on the Blue Squad will be: Nate Sestina from Cameron County, who will play for Bucknell next season, Tate Canavan from Brookville, Ben McDonald from Ridgway, Christian Cherry from Johnsonburg and Andrew Serafini from Brockway.

Nate Glunt from Clearfield and Jon Songer from Cameron County will coach the Blue Squad.

The Girls’ Game will start at 6:00 p.m. and the Boys’ Game fill follow at approximately 7:30 p.m.

The Sportsmanship I / Clarion County YMCA All-Star Games are a fund-raising event for the YMCA’s Camp Coffman. Player registration begins at 4:00 p.m. and a 32 round, shooting contest begins at 4:30 p.m.
