Bobcats Split Track And Field Meet With Falcons (04/16/15)

The Clarion Area Track and Field Teams hosted A-C Valley on Tuesday, posting a split, with the Bobcat Boys winning 89-48 and the Lady Cats dropping a 76-64 decision.

There were a number of highlights on the day. Jenn Ochs breaking her own school javelin record by 4 feet 2 inches. The record now stands at 128-6. Her old mark was 124-4. The Boys had four District Meet qualifying performances. Zach Hill qualified in the high jump, with a leap of 5-11. Josh Kreibel qualified with a 16.5 in the 110 hurdles. Liam Raehsler qualified with a 54.7 time in the 400 and Ethan Straffin qualified in the shot put, with a throw toss of 42-7. All were winning efforts.

Raehsler and Straffin were triple winners for the boys. Raehsler also won the 800 meters (2:14) and the 3200 (11:34). He has qualified for districts in all three events. Straffin also won the javelin with a throw of 139-4 and a discus throw of 118-1.

Kreibel and Ian Corbett were double winners with Kreibel also winning the 300 hurdles (47.5) and Corbett taking the 100 (11.3) and the long jump (19-8). Corbett is already a district qualifier in both events and also in the 200 and on the 4×100 relay with Hill, Matt Wagner and Ty Burford.

Adam Bettwy won the 1600 (5:24), Tom Hearst won the pole vault (7-9) and the 4×800 relay, consisting of Adam Bettwy, Kyle Bettwy, Marshall Powers and Jimmy Smathers, won in a time of 10:13.

For the Lady Cats, Ochs was a double winner, as she also won the shot put (30-1). She also took second in the discus. Forest Mills was also a double winner, capturing the 400 (1:07.0) and the 800 (2:48.9). Mills also took third in the 100.

Gloria Kroh took a first and two seconds. She captured the triple jump (30-6.5) and was second in the 100 and 300 hurdles. Julie Kenneson won the high jump (4-11) and the 4×800 relay team, consisting of Allison Harriger, Elizabeth Ketner, Emily Phillips and Chelsea Mason, was victorious with a time of 12:09.4.

Harriger was also second in the 1600 and Emily Phillips was third in the 800 meters.

Other second place finishers for the Lady Cats were: Lili Frakes in the 3200, Maya Miller in the long jump and Hanna Phillips in the triple jump. Third place winners were: Katie Eustice in the 100 and 300 hurdles,Clara Sieling in the 1600, Devon Quinn in the 200, Gabby Weaver in the long jump and Claire Saylor in the shot put.

The Bobcats and Lady Cats will travel to Clarion-Limestone on Wednesday.
