Lions Have Great Start To Clarion Area Little League Season (05/23/15)

The Lions have started the Clarion Area Little League season with a strong presence.

April 27 – Lions vs Burns and Burns

The Lions opened up the 2015 season with a win over Burns and Burns on Monday, April 27th. Cole Slaugenhaup starting pitcher for the Lions, controlled the game from the opening pitch, as he picked up his first win of the season.

Slaugenhaup completed four innings on the mound, facing sixteen batters and striking out eleven. The lone hit for Burns and Burns was by Bryce Brinkly in the fourth inning.

The Lions batting order erupted for five hits in the first two innings giving the Lions a 9 – 0 lead.

Noah DiTullio picked up the save for the Lions, pitching the 5th inning for the Lions. DiTullio faced four batters, striking out three and walking one.

May 1- Lions vs Rotary

Clarion Little League Baseball action on May 1st created much excitement as Rotary and the Lions battled 7 innings to have a winner. Cole Slaugenhaup and Cal German both pitched stellar performances on the mound. Noah DiTullio picked up the win for the Lions.

Pitching highlights:
Rotary: German had 8 strike outs, Brady Murray had 4 strikeouts.

May 2 – Burns and Burns vs. Lions

The Lions Little league team picked up its third win against Burns and Burns on May 2nd. The Lions seven hit attack was led by Cole Slaugenhaup with a single and a homerun, among other team contributors. The Lions came out on top with a 16 to 11 win.

May 4 – Lions vs. Rotary

The Lions and Rotary battled once again to another close game.

Rotary came out on top, this time winning 4 to 3.

This hard fought battle was another pitching duel between Cal German and Noah DiTullio. The Lions started the scoring attacking in the 1st inning plating two runs and picked the third run up in the 3rd inning. Rotary pickup up 2 runs in the 3rd, one in the 5th, and scored their 4th run in the bottom of the 6th with a two out bases loaded shot to right field. The Lions are now 3 and 1 on the season.

May 8 – Lions vs. SMI

The Lions improve to 4 and 1 for the season with a win over SMI in Clarion Little League action on May 8th. Cole Slaugenhaup and Hayden Callen pitched another great dual on the mound, but the Lions were able to come out on top with a 10 to 5 win.

Slaugenhaup struck out 7 batters, allowing 2 hits. Skylar Pastor relieved Slaugenhaup in the 4th inning, pitching 1 and 2/3 innings while not allowing any runs. Noah DiTullio came into to finish the 5th and completed the 6th inning. DiTullio struck out 3 and gave up 1 hit while allowing 2 runs to score. For SMI,Callen struck out 6 and allowed 4 hits.

May 9 – Lions vs. Delta

The Lions improved to 5-1 with a win over Delta on May 9th at Paul A. Weaver Park. Noah DiTullio picks up another win on the mound going 4 and 1/3 innings, giving up 1 run on 2 hits. Corbin Coulson gets the save for the Lions pitching 1 and 2/3 innings.

May 13 – Lions vs SMI

Lions Little League Baseball team improves to 6 and 1 on the season with a win over SMI in Little League action on May 13, 2015. Once again a pitching duel took between Hayden Callen and Cole Slaugenhaup. Slaugenhaup gets the win facing 15 batters, striking out 8, and giving up 3 hits.

Skylar Pastor helped out on the mound for the Lions facing 6 batters and striking out 4, while Corbin Coulson comes into close the game facing 3 batters and getting the final out of the game.

The Lions Clarion Little League team improved to 7 and 1 on the season with a win over Delta On May 15, 2015. Noah DiTullio picks up another win giving up 3 hits, striking out 5 batters in 2 and 2/3 of an inning. Corbin Coulson picks up the save going 2 and 1/3 innings, allowing 2 hits, while striking out 7.

The Lions Little League team picked up its eighth win of the season with a win over Burns and Burns in Clarion Little League action on May 19th. Cole Slaugenhaup picked up another win on the mound. Slaugenhaup faced 14 batters, striking out 5, and giving up a single to Hunter Craddock.
