Bobcat Freshman Baseball Team Downs Titusville 10-9, In Eight Innings (06/09/15)

The Clarion 16-18 Baseball Team(16-18 year old division) downed visiting Titusville 10-9, in eight innings, on Saturday (June 6th). Coach Lee Weber had this shares this recap:

After falling behind 7-0, we chipped our way back with 4 runs in the 3rd and 3 more runs in the 4th to get us back in the game. Derek Lauer and Reed Anthony did a great job coming in relief for Adrian Weber. Weber  started out well in the first with 3 strikeouts. Weber, Lauer, and Leo Aiello each had 2 hits and Sam Leadbetter added 3 more singles. Also contributing an RBI single was Mason Rearick. In the bottom of the 8th for the win, Aiello executed a perfect safety bunt to score Leadbetter after Lauer singled Leadbetter to third.

We had many star players helped turn this game into a win but I decided to name Player of the Game to the person that stopped the bleeding after we were down 7-0, Derek Lauer. He bought us time until our bats came around in the third inning. Also on the mound, Reed Anthony did an excellent job in the last three innings, giving up only 1 run with no walks to earn the win! With the bat, Weber had 2 hits and scored 3 runs, Lauer had 2 hits and 2 RBIs, and Leo Aiello had 2 hits and 2 rbi’s with a run scored.

Offensive player of the game would have gone to Sam Leadbetter. They couldn’t get him out! He had 3 singles, a walk and reached on an error. He stole three bases! He also had 2 RBIs and scored four runs. Great comback, 10-9 in 8 innings!

(The Bobcats will play at A-C Valley on Thursday (June 11th).
