The Corpus Christi Hooks, the Houston Astros Double-A affiliate, clinched the 2015 Texas League South Division, first half championship on Friday (June 12th), as they completed a series sweep of the homestanding Midland Rockhounds, with a 3-1 win.

Former Clarion Area Little League and Clarion Area High School player Jon Kemmer has had a big part in the Hooks’ success this season. Kemmer’s stats through Friday’s game, include a .294 batting average and .505 slugging percentage, with 32 hits, including 6 homeruns and five doubles.

Kemmer had a monster night on Thursday (June 11th), in a 7-6 Hooks win, going 4-for-4 with a double and a 3-run homer.
