The Strikers came out strong and spent much of the first minutes of the game on the Oil Region side of the field. Several shots were taken by the Owen Kerle and Austin Coull combo, but it was Ryker Bingham who found the back of the net first to start the game off with a 1-0 score.

The second goal was off a throw in from Kobe Buzard to Nate Megnin who made the score
2-0.

Kerle and Buzard continued to keep the pressure on Oil Region by keeping the ball in their territory and out of Striker territory. Beau Verdill was in goal for an injured Don Cunningham. Beau made a save from an Oil Region shot and was able to direct his kick to Austin Coull who was able to score making it a 3-0 game.

Ryker Bingham found the net again for his second score in the game 4-0 going into half time.

There was a goalie switch at the half when Austin Coull put the gloves on. This put Beau
Verdill in his most comfortable position as a forward where he quickly came out and found the
net making the score 5-0.

Isaiah Bish had his first goal of the season off a cross from Verdill to make the score 6-0. Oil Region had their first solid opportunity of the game when they scored on a high floater off a penalty shot to make the score 6-1.

Coach Laura made another goalie switch having Nick Hull put the gloves on. Nick is a strong
defensive player so he made the switch to goalie look pretty easy. Charlie Franchino did a great job of trapping the Oil Region’s goalie kicks all game long which enabled the Strikers to stay in Oil territory. Kade and Kaegan Phillips had some fancy footwork in and around the opponents keeping the ball out of the Striker territory.

Beau Verdill was able to take the ball coast to coast off a kick from the Oil Region’s goalie
making the score 8-1.

Oil Region was able to put another one in the net off a corner kick right before the final whistle
ending the game with a score of CRVS 8 Oil Region 2.

The solid teamwork the Strikers displayed during Saturday’s game made it look all too easy!

The U12 Strikers have their final game at home this Sunday (June 7th) against Shenango Valley at 4:00 at the Clarion County Park.
