DE Sports Moves To 2-0, In Big League Division Baseball (06/12/15)

Clarion’s DE Sports Big League Division Baseball Team is off to a good start on the season. They moved their record to 2-0, with a 16-0 (3 inning) win over homestanding A-C Valley, at Foxburg, on Thursday (June 12th).

DE Sports scored five runs in the first inning a followed that with eleven runs in the second. They held A-C Valley off the board through three. At that point the game ended.

Derek Lauer had a single, three RBIs and scored three times for DE Sports. Thomas Plummer had a double, three RBIs and scored twice. Mason Rearick also had a hit. He drove in a pair of runs and scored once.

Max Lane scored three times and stole a base. Sam Leadbetter and Adrian Weber each scored a pair of runs. Leadbetter stole three bases. Spencer scored once and drove in a pair of runs, while Ryan Anthony and Leo Aiello each had an RBI and scored a run. Reed Anthony had a pair of steals.

Leadbetter and Brendan Miller shared the duties on the mound. Leadbetter went the first two innings, in picking up the win. He threw three strikeouts and gave up a hit. Miller pitched one inning in relief and didn’t allow a hit.

DE Sports will have two home games this weekend, hosting Cranberry on Saturday (June 13th) at 6:00 PM and Reynolds at 2:00 PM on Sunday (June 14th).

There are nine teams in the league: DE Sports (Clarion), A-C Valley, Cranberry, Clarion-Forest, Franklin, Grove City, Oil City, Pleasantville and Reynolds.

DE Sports qualified for last season’s State Tournament, but were unable to attend due to conflicts with player commitments and vacations.
