Destin Strauser To Play In 2015 Lezzer Lumber Classic (06/12/15)

Recent Clarion Area graduate Destin Strauser has been selected to play in the 2015 Central Pennsylvania Football Coaches Association’s Lezzer Lumber Classic All-Star football game, which will be held next Friday (June 19th), at Clearfield High School’s Bison Stadium. Game time is 7:00 PM. This will be the 31st edition of this great game.

Players and coaches representing over thirty schools (all classifications: A, AA, AAA, AAAA) from throughout Central Pennsylvania will take part in the game. Offensive and Defensive MVPs from both the North and South Squads will be selected and various scholarships will be given.

Strauser, a three year starter for Coach Larry Wiser’s Bobcats, a running back and linebacker, for the North Squad had a great career for the Bobcats. He had 321 career tackles, including 162 as a junior and 93 as a senior and 16 career sacks. On offense this past season he had 311 yards on 38 carries and five touchdowns.

Strauser was First Team All-KSAC Small School, as a linebacker, in both his junior and senior seasons and was named Defensive MVP both years. He was named to the First Team on the Tri-County Sunday / Courier Express All-Star Team, three years in a row, as a defensive lineman his sophomore year and as a linebacker his junior and senior seasons.

Strauser was named the D9Sports.com Defensive MVP as a junior.as well as being named as a Second Team defensive lineman on the Pennsylvania Football News, Pre-Season All-State Team before his junior campaign.

Two other players from the KSAC will play in the game. Jonah Sampson, a running back and linebacker from Brookville will join Strauser on the North Squad and Punxsutawney’s Dalton Maines will play at defensive end for the South Squad.

The North Head Coach is Matt Lintal from State College, while the South will be guided by Jason Wilson from Tyrone. Game Director is Coach Jim Zauzig from Huntingdon.
