Rotary Finishes 4-1 In June To Win C.A.L.L. Regular Season Championship (06/23/15)

(By Rotary Manager, Bill Smith)

Rotary faced a daunting task of having to play five games in ten days to finish out their regular season. They first faced SMI, getting 35 pitches out of Brady Fowkes, Cal German, and Tommy Smith to secure the win 12-4. German and Fowkes both had multi-hit games and scored 8 of the 12 runs.

Rotary was then shut down by an awesome pitching performance by Ethan Burford, with Delta winning 5-3.

After the loss, Rotary found themselves in a must-win game against then first place, Lions. Pitchers German for Rotary and Cole Slaugenhaup for Lions battled it out in five innings with the game 3-2.

In the top of the sixth, Nick Aaron and Jake Smith both reached with singles to get Rotary back to the top of their lineup. German followed with a homerun and hits by Fowkes and T. Smith capped off a 5-run sixth inning to secure the 8-2 victory for Rotary to take sole possession of first place.

Rotary controlled their own destiny with needing to win their last two games of the season.

Back to back homeruns in the first inning by German and Fowkes showed that Rotary was in it to win it. T. Smith followed with a ground rule double of his own to finish off a 4-run first inning. In the fourth inning, Fowkes hit his second homerun of the game leading Rotary to a 7-5 win over SMI.

With one game remaining in regular season, Rotary needed a win over Burns & Burns to secure first place. In a not so pretty game, Rotary found themselves in a back and forth high scoring match up. Rotary managed to pull it together to lock down the 14-10 win and secure the regular season league championship.

(Congratulations Rotary!!!!)
