Bobcat Fall Sports Have Official Start With Meet The Teams Bonfire Event (08/30/15)

The Clarion Area High School fall sports season had their “official” start with the Annual Meet The Teams Bonfire Event, last Thursday (August 27th) evening, at the Clarion High School Field.

The event, which is a joint effort by all the fall sports booster clubs, was emceed by Doug Kline, who did his usual masterful job.

The Clarion Area Band took the field first and did a rousing rendition of the Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back.” Then the band members and directors were introduced.

Clarion Faculty member and Varsity Wrestling Coach Rob Sintobin then made an announcement, asking those in attendance to sign a petition requesting the State Legislature to work to provide funding to the District.

Next the Fall Sports Teams were introduced, which included the football, Volleyball, Girls Soccer (which co-ops with Clarion Area), Clarion-Limestone Boys Soccer (which co-ops with Clarion Area), Cross Country, Boys Golf (which was absent because they were at a match) and Girls Golf.

As the teams were introduced, they each displayed the pallets that they decorated. Each year, the pallets get more elaborate. Some are pretty good “works of art.” This year their was a traveling trophy presented to the team with the winning pallet.

Then the Clarion Area Education Association was introduced and given applause for the fine work they do with the students in the district. The cheerleaders were introduced. And then the trophy was given to the Volleyball Team for their first place pallet.

The Cheerleaders then led the crowd in a cheer and then the festivities moved to the west side of the field where the Bonfire was set ablaze and maintained by the Clarion Fire and Hose Company Number 1.
