Bobcats Do Well In First Scrimmage (08/24/15)

The Clarion Area Football Team traveled to Marion Center on Saturday (August 22nd) for their first scrimmage. The Bobcats looked strong with the offense scoring four times, while the defense limited the Stingers to one score.

Luke Nellis began the Bobcat scoring with a 1 yard run up the middle. After that, it was an aerial attack, with the Cats scoring on three long passes.

The first touchdown pass came when quarterback Brendan Miller hit brother Spencer on a 53 yarder. Spencer Miller caught a beautifully timed pass, on the left sideline and put on a nice move around the defender and raced to the end zone.

Clarion’s next touchdown, covering 57 yards, came when Brendan Miller hit a streaking Josh Kriebel over the middle at the 20 yard line. Kriebel, with no defender between him and the end zone, caught the ball in stride and raced in for the score.

The Cats’ final score came on a play action pass, with Brendan Miller hitting Ty Burford along the right side line, at about the five. Burford hauled the pass in and took it the rest of the way. The play covered thirty-five yards.

Keeven Weaver had a nice interception for the Bobcat defense.

The Bobcats will host West Branch, in a scrimmage, this Friday (August 28th), at Memorial Stadium, at 6:00 PM.
