Bobcat Football Team Drops Home Opener To Karns City (09/27/15)

The Clarion Area Football Team fell Karns City, 48-6, in their home opener, at Memorial Stadium, on Friday (September 25th).

The Gremlins opened the scoring with a ten yard run by Collin Dunmyre, at 3:56 of the first quarter. Kaiden Powers kick was good making the score 7-0, Karns City. Gremlin quarterback Cullen Williams went in on a keeper, with 2:48 left in the half. The PAT was good and KC took a 14-0 lead into halftime.

Maverick Kelsea had a two yard touchdown run, at the 9:20 mark of the third quarter and with a successful PAT, the Gremlins led 21-0.

The Bobcats’ lone score came on their next possession. On a second and nine, at the Bobcat eighteen, Josh Kriebel, took a handoff, and following some nice blocking from the line, broke free down the right sideline. He broke a tackle, at midfield and outran everyone into the endzone for an 82 yard touchdown, making the score Karns City 21 – Clarion 6, with 8:32 left in the quarter.

The Gremlins scored four more times: an Evan Stitt 62 yard punt return, another on a run by Kelsea, an interception return by Trevor Scott and a run by Aaron Hutchinson to set the final.

Kriebel led the Cats with 82 yards rushing. Michael McClosky added 50. Defensively, Luke Nellis had 11 tackles, Colton Rapp had 10, while Brendan Miller, Alexander Burkhart and Spencer Miller each had eight stops. Brendan Miller had two interceptions, Adrian Weber had one and Thomas Wurster recovered a fumble.

The Bobcats look to rebound, against Keystone, on Thursday (October 1st – ALF Game).
