Lady Cats JV Volleyball Team Finishes Second In Own Tournament (09/20/15)

The Clarion Area Volleyball Program hosted their 2015 Junior Varsity Tournament, yesterday (Saturday, September 19th) and the host Lady Cats finished in second place.

There were eight teams in this years event, in addition to the Lady Cats, including three other KSAC schools, North Clarion, Keystone and Cranberry.Huntingdon, Altoona, Franklin, DuBois also participated.

The tournament started with Pool Play. Pool A included Clarion, Huntingdon, Altoona and Franklin. Pool B consisted of Keystone, Cranberry, North Clarion and DuBois.

The Lady Cats won four of their six pool play games.

After Pool Play, the quarterfinals were contested. The top half of the bracket had Clarion facing North Clarion and Cranberry taking on Huntingdon. The lower half of the bracket saw Altoona facing Keystone and Franklin squaring off against DuBois.

Clarion and Cranberry were victorious in the upper bracket and Altoona and DuBois were winners in the lower bracket, to move on to the semifinals. Clarion downed Cranberry and Altoona topped DuBois, setting up a Clarion – Altoona finals match.

Game one of the finals saw Clarion overcome a 23-21 deficit to win 25-23. Altoona came back to win game two 25-15, setting up a third and deciding game to 15, with the winner having to win by two points. The game was exciting throughout, with the lead changing hands several times. Altoona finally emerged victorious, with a 20-18 win.
