Shorthanded Girls Soccer Team Loses To Redbank Valley (09/24/15)

(By Coach Chris Schonbachler)

The Clarion Area Lady Cats put forth a tremendous effort in Tuesday (September 22nd) evening’s soccer match at Redbank.

Due to numerous injuries the Lady Cats found themselves playing with 9 girls, rather than the typical team of 11, for the entire match.

Clarion’s defensive backs, Maddie Weaver, Hannah Phillips, and Rachel Grabiak had another strong outing, making Redbank truly earn every opportunity. Thanks to some quick passing and a great shot by Forest Mills, the undermanned Lady Cats made it to the halftime break down 2-1.

The duo of Wendy and Kelly Beveridge shared goalkeeping duties and combined for an impressive 31 saves in the match.

Although the final score shows the Lady Cats losing 5-1, the coaching staff was proud to see the level of play displayed by the team against such difficult circumstances. Clarion’s next match will be at home Thursday (September 24th) evening against Ridgway.
