Clarion Area Cross Country Teams Fall To North Clarion (10/06/15)

The Clarion Area Bobcat Cross Country Teams competed at North Clarion, today, (Tuesday, October 6th). The Varsity Boys and Girls Teams and Junior High Boys Teams all lost close contests, with both Varsity Teams finishing five points behind the Wolves and the Junior High Boys falling by a single point.

The Cats had some good individual performances. Katie Craig finished second in the Varsity Girls race and Nathaniel Lerch finished second in the Junior High Boys race. Crowe Theim was the Bobcats’ top Varsity Boys finisher and Emma Spitz was the top Junior High Girls finisher for Clarion. Both finished in fifth place.

Cross Country teams from Clarion and Clarion-Limestone traveled to North Clarion for a dual meet on Tuesday, October 6, 2015. North Clarion senior Isaac Wilson easily beat the 2001 senior course record with a winning time of 16:33, crossing the line a full minute and a half before 2nd place teammate Isaiah Griebel. Isaac Kaye crossed third to give North Clarion a 1-2-3 sweep for the varsity boys. Rounding out the top ten were Clarion-Limestone’s Andrew Forrest, then Clarion’s Crowe Thiem, Adam Bettwy, Marshall Powers, Kyle Bettwy, and Nick Schill. The Wolves remain undefeated in team competition, beating the Bobcats by a score of 25-30.

On the girls’ side, North Clarion was victorious over Clarion also by a score of 25-30. North Clarion’s Abbie Schmader crossed first at 20:31, leading Clarion’s Katie Craig and the rest of the field by almost a full minute. Clarion Limestone’s Hannah Rittenhouse and Kaleigh Kirby crossed next, leading the C-L Lions to a team victory over the Wolves by a score of 26-29. Rounding out the top ten were; Michaela Higgins (NC), Maggie Schwabenbauer (NC), Chelsea Mason (C), Joni Zacherl (CL), Macrina Forrest (CL), and Gabriella Fleming (C).

In the junior high boys race, Jacob Bauer remained undefeated this season by crossing the line just ahead of a surging Nathaniel Lerch from Clarion. The Wolves beat the Bobcats in team scoring 27-28. Rounding out the top ten were; Austin Coull (CL), Bryce Byers (NC), Nate Datko (C), Jacob Kaltenbaugh (NC), Donnie Cunningham (C), Alex Cussins (C), and Aaron Lencer (NC).

Rachel Bauer led all girls junior high runners across the line followed by Wolf-pack teammates Haley Bauer, Addison Shaftic, and Courtney Culp. Emma Spitz (C), Jenna Miller (C), Morgan Kahle (C), Marilyn Luchinsky (C), and Faythlynn Vanek (NC) rounded out the field on a beautiful day.
