Clarion-Limestone Boys Soccer Team Wins Two; Craig Has Hat Trick Against Keystone (10/02/15)

Clarion-Limestone 3 – Forest Area 2

On Thursday, September 24th, The Clarion-Limestone Boys soccer team had a mission in mind to extend their winning streak to three. This goal was made more difficult with two starters out of their line-up due to injury and third being injured 10 minutes into the first half.

They boys traveled to Forest Area and came away with a 3-2 victory.

Cam Craig started off the scoring for the Lions with a goal early in the first half. Forest Area answered back with a goal of their own, shortly after, by Joe Mays.

The score remained tied through the remainder of the first half.

In the second half, Forest Area started off the scoring with another goal by Joe Mays. C-L was able to get on the board, when good pressure by the offense resulted in Forest Area making an error on the play and putting the ball in their own net. Cam Craig would answer, though with another earned goal, later on the half.

The C-L Lions would go on to control the ball and end the game with their third straight win.

Clarion-Limestone 6 – Keystone 1

The Lions extended their win streak to 4 with a second win over Keystone. The Lions traveled to Keystone on Tuesday, September 29th. Even with the rainy conditions, the Lions were able to come out strong and completely control the first half. Once again, Cam Craig started off the scoring for the Lions, off an assist by Blake Phillips. Blake would also go on to assist Cam on his second goal of the half, as well.

Javier Delgado would then get on the board, for the Lions, off an assist by Cam Craig. Javier would score yet another goal in the first half, this time with help from Blake Phillips. Cam Craig ended the half with a hat trick and another assist by Javier Delgado.

The Panthers were unable to get on the board in the first half.

The Lions started the second half strong again, but with some personnel in different positions. This would lead to Kent Peterson scoring the Lions sixth goal off an assist by Isaac Kim.

Harrison Porter battled hard in goal to maintain the shut-out, but the Panthers battled back and were able to notch their lone goal of the match by Max Thompson.

With this win, the Lions move their record to 500 and are in strong contention for a play-off spot. The Lions will be back in action Wednesday, October 7th against DuBois Central Catholic at
