Lady Cats Compete In Pottsville Volleyball Tournament (10/12/15)

The Clarion Area Volleyball Team, competed in the Pottstown Tournament, this past Saturday (October 10th).

The Lady Cats finished with a 4-5 record. They made it out of Pool Play, before falling in the quarterfinals.

Clarion dropped two games to the Marian Catholic Lady Spartans, from Tamaqua, (16-25, 23-25), to open the day. They came back, downing the Lady Cardinals from Pine Grove 2-0 (25-11, 25-16), then lost two to the Berks Catholic Saints, from Reading, 2-0 (8-25, 21-25). The Cats finished pool play by taking two from the Southern Lehigh Lady Spartans, from Center Valley (25-8, 25-21).

The Lady Cats faced the Lady Rams from Central Dauphin High School, falling to the Harrisburg school 21-25, in theone game quarterfinal.

Gloria Kroh handed out 51 big assists and had 6 kills and eleven digs, for the Lady Cats. Anna Reed,Olivia Burns and Keanna Over all had a fine defensive performances, with Reed delivering on 42 digs and an assist. Burns had 24 kills and 24 digs, while Over contributed 18 kills and twenty digs. Over had 4 aces, Reed 3 and Burns one.

Alexis Connstantino had 4 aces and sixteen digs. Johanna Rapp had 4 aces and two digs, Dorothy Kalinowski had 6 kills, 5 aces and an assist. Sophie Wolf delivered 8 kills, an assist and two aces. Maya Thornton had 5 kills, an assist and a dig.

The Lady Cats travel to Karns City on Thursday (October 15th).
