EIGHTH GRADE GAME:  CLARION 22 – CLARION-LIMESTONE 20

Clarion’s 8th grade girls’ basketball team staged a furious 4th quarter comeback, to defeat Clarion-Limestone 22-20 Wednesday (November 11th) afternoon, in Clarion Area High School’s gymnasium. With Clarion down 20-18 with a little over two minutes remaining in the contest, Brennah Copenhaver grabbed an offensive rebound and scored to tie the game and was fouled on the play for a chance for a three point play. The free throw was off and C-L grabbed the rebound. After a good defensive stop by the Lady Cats, Kaitlyn Constantino stole an inbounds pass and drove to the basket to score and put the Cats up 2 with one minute remaining. The Lady Cats then held on to claim their first victory of the season. Constantino led the way with 10 points and was followed by Ava Cherico’s 6 points. Kyara Girvan, Maria Bradley, and Copenhaver all finished with a basket. Bradley also played stellar defense in the game, in the low post, against a much taller Lady Lions team.

SEVENTH GRADE GAME: CLARION-LIMESTONE 14 – CLARION 8

In a well played, tightly contested opening game C-L’s 7th grade team defeated the Lady Cats by six points. The game was close throughout. C-L held a 4 point game lead at the half, but the young Cats cut the lead to 2 heading into the final quarter. The Lady Cats played strong defense against a talented C-L basketball team. Emily Grabiak led the way for Clarion with 4 points. Both Hope Hazlett and Brennah Copenhaver finished with a basket.

Clarion will return to action next Tuesday (November 17th), as they host the Moniteau Warriors.
