Wrestling: Bobcats Down Keystone, Junior High Also Victorious (12/17/15)

The Clarion Area Wrestlers traveled to Keystone, on Tuesday (December 16th) and came away with a 45-24 victory. The Junior High grapplers also won their match, downing the Panthers 54-18.

VARSITY MATCH

Alex Struble (120) opened the match with a forfeit win, followed by a pin by Riley McMaster (126), giving the Cats a 12-0 lead. The Bobcats increased the lead to 24-0, with Adrian Weber (132) winning by forfeit and Caleb Bailey (138) pinning his opponent.

Keystone won the next two matches, with Nick Baughman (145) winning by fall and Chad Rogers (152) getting a 10-6 decision, to cut the Clarion lead to 24-9.

The Bobcats got successive falls from Prince Brooks (160) and Mike LeFay (170) to move the lead to 36-9. Keystone’s Evan Redding (182) won by fall and Tyler VanTassel (195) earned a 12-8 decision, to cut Clarion’s lead to 36-18. Bobcat Tom Worster (220) won 10-6 moving Clarion’s lead to 39-18.

Tyler Beal registered a pin, for the Panthers cutting the Clarion lead to 39-24. But the Cats’ Login Dehner (106) set the final at 45-24, with a forfeit win.

 

JUNIOR HIGH MATCH

Riley Slagle (85), Wyatt Stimmell (95), Jeremiah Hartzell and Austin Barrett (105) each had forfeits as the Bobcats opened with a 24-0 lead. Caleb Crompton (122) and Cutter Boggess (130) had forfeits for the Panthers, cutting the Bobcat lead to 24-12.

Jordan Pezzuti (138) had a pin, for the Bobcats, followed by a forfeit win by Curtis Shipley (145) and a fall by Ayden Wiles (155) moving the lead to 42-12. Justin Goodman (185) and Ben Smith (210) with forfeit wins to move the score to 54-12. Panther Colby Whitehill (250) won by fall, to set the final at 54-18, Bobcats.

The Bobcat Varsity wrestlers will take part in the Redbank Valley Invitational on Saturday (December 19th).
