Brendan Miller, Alexander Burkhart Make WesternPAFootball.net’s All-West Class-A Team (01/09/16)

The 2015 WesternPAFootball.net announced their 2015 All-Western Pennsylvania Football Teams recently. The Teams consist of players from Districts 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. Unlike past seasons, when they named a Small School Team (Class-A and AA) and Large School Team (Class-AAA and AAAA), Western PAFootball.net named separate Teams for each classification. They named a First Team and Honorable Mentions for each team.

Two Clarion Area Bobcats, Defensive Back Brendan Miller and Offensive Lineman Alexander Burkhart, made Honorable Mention on the Class-A Team.

Several Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference players made the First Team in their respective Classes. Clarion-Limestone Wide Receiver Brady Himes and Union Defensive Back Cole Morris were named on the Class-A Team. The Karns City duo of Reese Barger and Chandler Turner were named First Team Class-AA at Offensive Lineman and Defensive Back respectively.

A number of KSAC Players join Miller and Burkhart as Honorable Mentions. In Class-A, Clarion-Limestone Quarterback Anthony Louder; Redbank Valley’s Offensive Lineman Brylee Shumaker and Special Teams Athlete Wyatt Hetrick; Keystone Running Back Jake Weaver; Union Fullback Daniel Roberts and Running Back Dugan Gallagher were given nods.

Karns City had four players named Honorable Mention in Class-AA, while St. Marys had two players getting nods. Running Back Colin Dunmyre, Linebacker Maverick Kelsea, Offensive Lineman Ben Ealy and Defensive Back Cullen Williams were named for the Gremlins. For the Dutch, Wide Receiver Brady Bauer and Punter Nick Taylor received mention.

A number of other Area and District Nine players were named to this year’s Teams.

Class-A First Team: Joe Varischetti – Offensive Lineman and Jarrett Esposito – Punter, Brockway; Eli Jacobs – Defensive Back, Curwensville; Jake Shrub – Offensive Lineman and Shane Rolick – Defensive Back, Kane.

Class-A Honorable Mention: Jarrett Esposito – Kicker, Quade Lundberg – Offensive Lineman and Anthony Zocco – Offensive Lineman, Brockway; Eli Jacobs – Defensive Back, Ian Barrett – Offensive Lineman and Nick Stewart – Running Back, Curwensville; Myquandre Stevenson – Defensive Back, Sheffield.

Class-AAA First Team: Nathan Lash – Offensive Lineman, Ryan Lezzer – Defensive Back and Matt Collins – Linebacker, Clearfield. (Collins is this year’s Class-AAA Defensive Player of the Year, District Nine’s third Defensive Player of the Year, joining Moniteau’s Joey Deal – 2011 Small Team and Clarion’s T. J. Armstrong – 2012 Small Team.)

Class-AAA Honorable Mention: Devon Klingler – Offensive Lineman and Jackson McFall – Quarterback, Oil City; Devon Latchaw – Defensive Lineman, Porter Rembold – Linebacker and Khalil West – Wide Receiver, Franklin; Seth Caldwell – Running Back, Clearfield; John Eakin – Punter, Bradford.

Class-AAAA First Team: Matt Miller – Quarterback and Dante Dawson – Athlete, DuBois.

Class-AAAA Honorable Mention: Ryan Pasternak – Offensive Lineman, DuBois.
