This was a good win for us. A-C Valley played a 1-3-1 zone which we never even practiced against. We talked about it before the game and discussed how to attack the zone and the boys did a good job executing the offense and improvising ‘on the fly’. We were also able to pressure the ball and created a lot of turnovers and layup opportunities for ourselves.

The Bobcats came out shooting in the game, outscoring the Falcons 15 – 4 in the first. Tyler Schmader and Cal German each had 4 to start the game. Mitch Geiger, Ethan Burford and Hunter Craddock all added a basket while Ben Murtha made a free throw.

German kept the hot hand in the second with 4 more points while Lucas Baker added 2 and Craddock 1. The two teams each scored 7 points in the quarter and Clarion went to halftime leading 22 – 11.

We were able to expand the lead, outscoring A-C Valley in the third 12 – 9. Baker lit up the nets with 6 points while Craddock had 4 more and German chipped in with 2. Clarion lead 34 – 20 heading into the final stanza.

The Falcons would win the fourth 10 – 8, but Clarion won the game 42 – 30. Baker, Geiger, Schmader and Cunningham all had baskets in the quarter.

Lucas Baker had a season high 10 points as did Cal German to lead the Bobcats. Also scoring were Craddock (7), Schmader (6), Geiger (4), Burford and Cunningham (2) and Murtha (1).

Merwin had a game high 15 points for the Falcons. Best (6), Burkett (5), Penny and Barger (2) rounded out the scoring for A-C Valley.
