Bobcats Have A Number Of Place Winners, Finish Sixth At District Nine Junior High Wrestling Tournament (02/14/16)

(By Coach Lee Weber)

We had twelve boys going to the District Nine Junior High Wrestling Tournament, at Brockway, but only nine could wrestle due to some injuries. Out of the nine that wrestled, we had two 2nd place finishers, two 3rd place finishers, two 4th place finishers, and one 5th place finisher. It was a strong effort by our team and I am very proud and honored to be their coach.

Here are their results for the day:

80 Riley Slagle (3-1, 3rd Place) His 3rd place match was the most controlled wrestling Riley had all year!
90 Wyatt Stimmell (0-2) Wyatt had a very good weight class to deal with. He wrestled well against 2 tough opponents.
130 Jordan Pezzuti (2-2, 5th Place) Great day for a first year wrestler. He didn’t wrestle against any slouches today and lost close matches
138 Ayden Wiles (3-1, 3rd Place) Pinned the 3rd seed twice and gave the 2nd seed all he could handle. Dark horse of the tournament.
145 Curtis Shipley (0-2) Wrestled well and scored against the 2nd place winner. Improving weekly!
165 Justin Goodman (2nd Place) Lost by decision in final. Had 2 good takedowns but got rolled through to lose a tough one.
185 Ben Smith (2nd Place) Got caught early to fall behind 5-0 but fought hard to make it close.
210 Matt Coleman (4th Place) Matt was winning 5-0 but got caught in a head lock to lose by pin.
250 Bowman Hartley (4th Place) Wrestled his best matches of the year! Beat his opponent from Kane which he lost to earlier in the season by pin!

As a team, we placed 6th out of 15 teams.

(Thanks to Coach Weber for this article. Good job, Bobcats!!!!)
