Girls Basketball: Clarion Downs C-L On Senior Night To Bounce Back From Loss To Punxsutawney (02/11/16)

Coming back from a 52-30 loss at Punxsutawney, on Monday night (February 8th) the Clarion Area Lady Cats downed the visiting Clarion-Limestone Lady Lions 54-35, on Senior Night, Tuesday (February 9th).

Comeback was the word, on Tuesday, as the Bobcats found themselves down 13-2 after one, with their only points coming from Jenna Beichner’s bucket to open the game.

Led by Wendy Beveridge’s, who scored 8 of her team high 14, points in the second quarter, the Cats rebounded to trail by only four points, 20-16 at halftime. Clarion scored the final eight points in the quarter.

The Bobcats caught fire in the third quarter, outscoring the Lions 25-1, to take a 41-21 point lead into the final frame. Anna Reed led the Cats scoring all of her eight points in the quarter.

The Lions held a 15-14 scoring edge in the fourth, setting the 54-35 final.

Kelly Beveridge  had ten points for Clarion. Maddie Weaver and Gloria Kroh and Beichner added six apiece. Maya Thornton and Alexis Constantino each had two points.

Clarion won the JV game 47-13. The Bobcats led 19-2 after one, 27-16 at the half and 37-11 after three.

Wendy Beveridge and Alexis Constantino led Clarion with eleven points apiece. Gloria Kroh had 9 points, with 11 rebounds. Maya Thornton had 6 and Chelsea Mason added four.

In the game against Punxutawney, Clarion led 8-5 after one, but fell behind to trail 24-15 at the half. The Lady Chucks led 39-25 after three. A 13-5 Punxy advantage in the fourth set the final at Punxsutawney 52 – Clarion 30.

Anna Reed led Clarion with eleven points. Maddie Weaver, Alexis Constantino and Sophie Wolf each had four points for the Lady Cats. Maya Thornton had 2 points and Gloria Kroh had one.

Bridge had 13 and Lunger and Horner had ten apiece for the Lady Chucks.

Clarion won the JV game 25-20. Alexis Constantino had ten points. Gloria Kroh had 8 points and 11 rebounds. Wendy Beveridge had 4 points, Keanna Over had 22 and Maya Thornton had one.
