Wrestling Team Falls To Redbank Valley, Downs Ridgway (02/05/16)

The Clarion Area Wrestling Team had two home matches this week. The Bobcats hosted the Redbank Valley Bulldogs, for Senior Night, on Tuesday (February 2nd), dropping a close 36-28 decision.

The Bobcat Junior High downed the Bulldogs 48-45. On Thursday (February 4th), the Bobcat hosted the Ridgway Elkers, coming out with a 42-23 victory. Clarion also won the Junior High match, downing the Elkers 36-33.

Redbank Valley Varsity Match

Zach Sintobin opened the match with a fall in twenty-five seconds, at 195, giving the Cats a 6-0 lead. Tom Wurster fought hard, but dropped a 6-4 decision, at 220. Redbank received a forfeit win at 285. Then Login Dehner fell 5-2, at 106. The Bulldogs now led 12-6. At 113, Alex Struble won a hard fought 9-8 decision, to move the Cats to within three, 12-9.

Blake Phillips lost by fall at 120. Ryley McMaster, fell by a major decision at 126, to give Redbank Valley a 23-9 lead. Adrian Weber (132) and Caleb Bailey (138) each won by fall to close the gap to 23-21.

Colton Rapp (145) fell by a 5-3 decision. Leo Aiello earned a 9-1 decision at 152 and Brince Brooks recorded a 7-1 decision at 260, to give the Cats a 28-26 lead.

Mike LeFay had a tough battle, dropping an 11-10 decision, at 160 and Seth Nellis lost by fall, at 182, as Redbank Valley took the 35-28 decision.

Redbank Valley Junior High Match

All of the Junior High Bobcats wins, in the 48-45 victory, came by way of forfeit. Receiving the forfeits wins were: Cole Stutzman, Wyatt Stimmel, Haydern Wiles, Curtis Shipley, Justin Goodman, Ben Smith, Matt Coleman and Bowman Hartley.

Ridgway Varsity Match

The Bobcats had three on mat wins in the 36-33 win. Tom Wurster won by fall, at 220. Alex Struble registered a 3-2 decision, at 113 and Caleb Bailey won 5-4, at 138.

Picking up forfeit wins for the Cats were Colton Rapp (145), Prince Brooks (160), Mike LeFay (170), Seth Nellis (182) and Zach Sintobin (195)

Ridgway Junior High Match
The Bobcats received three victories by fall, in the 36-33 win. Pinning their opponents were Ayden Wyles (155), Justin Goodman (145) and Ben Smith (220)

Receiving forfeit wins, for the Cats were: Riley Slagle (85), Curtis Shipley (145) and Bowman Hartley (250).

The Bobcat Varsity Wrestling Team will compete in the District Nine Team Championships on Saturday (February 6th).
