Clarion Bobcat And C.A.L.L. Alum Jon Kemmer Moves Up To Triple-A Fresno Grizzlies (04/05/16)

Clarion Area Bobcat and Clarion Little League Alum Jon Kemmer continues his steady path upward in professional baseball, as he has been assigned by the Houston Astros to the their Triple-A affiliate, the Fresno Grizzlies.

Jon is one of only four outfielders on the Grizzlies’ twenty-five man roster.

Jon, who participated in spring training with the major league squad, spent last season with the Astros Double-A affiliate Corpus Christi Hooks. As a member of the Hooks, he won the Texas League batting title, with a .327 average. He hit 18 home runs in the 2015 campaign.

The Grizzlies compete in the Pacific Coast League, which has two Conferences, American and Pacific. Each Conference has a Northern and Southern Division, with four teams in each Division.

The Grizzlies are in the Pacific Northern Division, along with the Reno Aces (Diamondbacks), Sacramento River Cats (Giants) and Tacoma Raniers (Mariners).

Last season, their first as the Astros’ Triple-A affiliate, the Grizzlies won their first-ever Pacific Coast League and National Championship. They set a franchise record with 84 wins and were selected as the 2015 Team of the Year by Minor League Baseball and the fans.

The Grizzlies will open the season with a four game series against the Las Vegas 51s (Mets) this Thursday, April 7th  at Vegas, followed by a series at Salt Lake facing the Bees (Angels). Both teams are in the Pacific Southern Division.

Fresno’s will face the 51s in their home opener, on Friday, April 15th, at 12,500 seat Chukchansi Park, in downtown Fresno.
