This Week’s Varsity Baseball And Softball Summary (04/23/16)

The Clarion Area Baseball and Softball Teams each had three games, this week.

The Baseball Team went 2-1, in three away games: downing A-C Valley 24-0, in four innings, on Monday (April 18th), falling 7-4 to Redbank Vally on Tuesday (April 19th) and defeating Union 6-1, on Thursday (April 21st). The Lady Cats went 1-2, on the week, downing homestanding A-C Valley, 9-5 on Monday, falling at Redbank Valley, 4-2 on Tuesday and dropping a home game to Moniteau, 6-0 on Friday (April 22nd).

Baseball: 

A-C Valley

Brendan Miller had a three run homer and a single, with three RBIs. Luke Nellis also homered, a two run shot. Caleb Wilson and Ryan Anthony had 3 hits apiece, with Wilson collecting 2 RBIs and Anthony driving in three.

Leo Aiello, Adrian Weber, Cameron Craig and Sterling Conner each had singles.

Reed Anthony was the winning pitcher, giving up just one hit, and throwing seven strikeouts, in three innings of work. Spencer Miller had two strikeouts in one inning.

Redbank Valley

Brendan Miller had two round-trippers  in this one, a two-run shot and solo homer. Leo Aiello had two singles.

Spencer Miller, Cameron Craig, Ryan Anthony and Luke Nellis each contributed a hit.

Union

Adrian Weber threw seven strikeouts, to pick up the win. Reed Anthony also saw action on the mound.

Leo Aiello led the Cats with three singles, with Ryan Anthony collecting two singles. Brendan Miller had a single and two RBIs.

Also getting a hit, for the Bobcats were: Weber, Reed Anthony, Luke Nellis and Sterling Conner.

A-C Valley

Sadie Rudesyle went the distance, throwing for six strikeouts, to pick up the win.

Keanna Over had a big game at the plate, with 4 hits and 2 RBIs. She also scored a run. Carly Best had two hits, a double and a single and drove in a run. Rudesyle and Cora Zerfoss each had two hits.

Johnna Rapp, Alexis Constantino, Anna Reed, Maya Thornton and Sydney Kiser each had hits, with Rapp and Constantino each driving in a run.

Redbank Valley

In this one, Redbank Valley scored 3 in the fourth and 1 in the fifth, while the Lady Cats got their runs in the seventh.

Johnna Rapp and and Keanna Over both singled and doubled, while Anna Reed had two singles. Reed and Rapp each had an RBI. Alexis Constantino also singled.

Moniteau

The Lady Warriors’ Kennedy DeMatteis threw a two-hitter, with thirteen strikeouts, to pick up the win. Maya Thornton had both hits for the Lady Cats.

The Bobcats will host Cranberry on Monday (April 25th), while the Lady Cats will host Karns City on Tuesday (April 26th).
