Track And Field: Clarion Splits With A-C Valley (04/30/16)

The Clarion Area Boys And Girls Track And Field Teams faced A-C Valley, at Foxburg on Wednesday (April 27th), with the Bobcat Boys coming away with a 104-46 win against the Falcons and the Lady Cats dropping a 94 2/3 to 54 1/3 decision.

Boys

Josh Kriebel won three individual events, the 110 hurdles (15.5),  300 hurdles (43.4) and long jump (17.8). Josh also joined with Marshall Powers, Archer Mills and Kyle Patterson to win the 4×100 relay (47.1).

Adam Bettwy also won three individual events, leading a sweep in the 3200 (11:34.3), with Noah Cole finishing second and Kyle Bettwy finishing third, leading a sweep in the 800 (1:15.1), with Hummell finishing second and Kyle Bettwy finishing third and taking the 1600 (5:05.5), where Cole took third.

Clarion swept the high jump, with Mills winning (5-6), Curtis Shipley finishing second and Mike LeFay finishing third. Smathers won the javelin (127-8) and finished third in the 200. Nick Cherico placed in all three throwing events capturing second in the discus and javelin and third in the shot put.

Tom Hearst won the pole vault (9-6), with Harrison Porter taking third.

Jacob Burns had three second place finishes, in the 100, the long jump and the triple jump. Patterson finished third in the 300 hurdles. Mills had a second in the 200 and LeFay had a third in the 100.

Jimmy Smathers finishing third and also teamed with Mills, Patterson and Austin Hummell on the victorious 4×400 relay (3:51.5). Powers and Hummell, along with Adam Bettwy and Kyle Bettwy won the 4×800 relay (9:22.6).

Girls

Wendy Beveridge was a triple event winner, taking the long jump, with a meet qualifying distance (15.8), the triple jump (31-1) and joining with Forest Mills, Gaby Weaver, and Alexa Kriebel on the victorious 4×100 (53.9).Beveridge also finished third in the 100.

Mills was a double winner, as she also captured the 800 (2 :33.3). Katie Craig won the 3200 (15:11.8). The Lady Cats swept the triple jump as Hannah Phillips finished second, behind Beveridge, with Gloria Kroh taking third. Kroh tied for second in the high jump, with a district qualifying height of 4′-8 and third in the 400.

The 4×100 relay, which includes Mills, Weaver, Hannah Phillips and Phylicia Hockman, finished second, but turned in a district meet qualifying time of 4:24.0.

Weaver finished with two more seconds, in the 100 hurdles and the 300 hurdles. Lexi Lauer finished third in the 100 hurdles and Phylicia Hockman took third in the 300 hurdles. Craig took second and Elizabeth Ketner finished third in the 1600.

Meredith Burkhart took second in the shot put and Dorothy Kalinowski finished second in the discus. Claire Saylor finished third in each event. Phillips took third in the 200 and Maya Miller took third in the long jump.

The Lady Cats host Clarion-Limestone and Redbank Valley in a tri-meet, at Memorial Stadium, on Wednesday (May 4th). The Bobcat Boys will travel to Clarion-Limestone, on the same day, to face the same two schools.
