Bobcats And Lady Cats Have Nice Showing At Redbank Valley Invitational (05/15/16)

The Clarion Area Track And Field Teams had a good showing in the Redbank Valley Invitational on Thursday (May 12th), gathering one first place finish, four seconds, a third, two fourths, two fifths, a tenth and two twelfths.

Forest Mills had the first place finish, capturing the Girls 800, in a time of 2:31.52. Mills was also a member of the 4×400 relay team along with Hannah Phillips, Gabby Weaver and Phylicia Hockman which finished with a time of 4:29.08 to finish fifth.

Josh Kriebel had two seconds in the boys meet with a 15.68 in the 100 hurdles  and a 42.19 in the 300 hurdles.

Lexi Lauer and Wendy Beveridge placed second in the girls meet. Lauer took silver in the high jump, at a height of 4-10. Beveridge’s second came in the long jump with a leap of 15-4.75. Beveridge also took fourth in the triple jump going 31-6.

The boys 4×800 relay, consisting of Adam Bettwy, Kyle Bettwy, Austin Hummel and Marshall Powers, finished third with a time of 9:21.22. Adam Bettwy took fourth in the 1600 with a time of 4:56.23.

Four other Lady Cats placed in individual events: Weaver took fifth in the 100 hurdles, with a time of 17.38; Elsa Tovar placed tenth in the discus, with a throw of 83-11; Claire Saylor finished twelfth in the shot put, with a throw of 25-10; and Dorothy Kalinowski took twelfth in the discus, with an 83-11 toss.

Also competing for the girls were: Meredith Burkhart, Alexa Kriebel and Maya Miller. Also competing for the boys were: Jake Burns, Archer Mills and Kyle Patterson.

A number of Bobcats and Lady Cats will be competing in the District IX Championships on Friday (May 20th).
