Diamond Updates: Lady Cats Advance To Championship Game, Bobcats Fall In Opening Round (05/29/15)

It was good news-bad news for Clarion Area on the Diamond this week. The Lady Cats Softball Team followed up Monday’s (May 23rd) victory over Curwensville with a 4-2 District Nine Class A semifinal win over Coudersport, at St. Marys, on Wednesday (May 25th). But the Bobcat Baseball Team fell in their District opener to visiting Coudersport, 3-1, ending their fine season at 15-4.

Softball

The “visiting”Lady Cats broke a scoreless tie, with a run in the top of the second. Neither team scored again until the sixth, with Clarion moving their lead to 4-0 with three runs in the top of the inning and Coudersport scoring their two runs in the bottom of the inning, to set the final at 4-2.

Sadie Rudesyle had a quality outing, in the circle, with a complete game three-hitter. She threw seven strikeouts and only issued one walk.

Sydney Kiser had two run scoring singles. She drove in Alexis Constantino for the first run of the game and then followed Constantino and Maya Thornton, who had back to back run scoring doubles, by singling Thornton home, in the three-run sixth.

Constantino and Thornton each had singles also, as did Johnna Rapp.

The Lady Cats will now face DuBois Central Catholic, on Tuesday (May 31st) at Brockway, for the District Nine Class A Championship.

Baseball

The Bobcats’ season came to an end with the 3-1 loss to the Falcons. Coudy scored their three runs in the top of the third.

The Bobcats run came in the bottom of the sixth, on an double by Brendan Miller, scoring Adrian Weber.
