Softball Round-up: Lady Cats 5-0 Last Week (05/15/16)

The Clarion Area Softball Team did extremely well last week, going 5-0 and outscoring their opponents by a combined 57-7 score. The Lady Cats started the week with a 7-7 record and closed it out at 12-7.

Double Header Sweep Against Forest Area

Clarion swept a doubleheader from the Forest Area Flames at Tionesta, on Monday (May 9th), taking the first game 17-2 in four innings and winning the nightcap 13-3 in five innings.

The Lady Cats scored seven runs in the first inning, eight in the second and four in the fourth, in game one. The Fires had a run in the both the second and third innings.

Keanna Over and Maya Thornton had three hits apiece. Carly Best tripled and drove in two runs, while Cora Zerfoss had a pair of singles and two RBIs. Anna Reed tripled, Sadie Rudesyle had a pair of doubles and Liz Saver also had a two-bagger.

Clarion scored six runs in the first inning, four in the third and three in the fourth, in the nightcap. Forest Area scored one in the second and four in the fourth.

Reed had two hits and two RBIs, Zerfoss and Saver each had two hits. Sydney Kiser drove in two runs.

Rudesyle threw nine strikeouts to pick up the win’

Win At Brockway

Sadie Rudesyle pitched a four hit shutout, in the 6-0 win at Brockway, on Tuesday (May 10th).

Anna Reed had three hits, including two doubles, while Cora Zerfoss had three hits. Carly Best had a pair of singles. Keanna Over, Johnna Rapp, Liz Saver and Sydney Kiser each had a hit.

Victory At Clarion-Limestone

Winning pitcher, Alexis Constantino threw a three-hitter as the Lady Cats downed the Lady Lions 9-0, on Wednesday (May 11th).

Clarion scored one run each, in the second and fourth innings, four in the fifth and three in the sixth.

Cora Zerfoss had three hits, including a triple and drove in a run. Maya Thornton had three hits and an RBI. Sydney Kiser singled and had three RBIs.

Sadie Rudesyle had a double and a single, Anna Reed singled and drove in a run, while Keanna Over, Carly Best and Constantino each had a hit.

Home Win Against Keystone

The Lady Cats hosted the Lady Panthers, on Friday (May 12th) and came away with a 12-2 (five inning win). Sadie Rudesyle picked up the win, throwing eight strikeouts, while giving up just one hit and issuing only one walk.

Clarion scored three in the first, four in the second, three in the third and two in the fourth. Keystone scored their two runs in the fourth.

Carly Best singled and tripled and Johnna Rapp had a pair of hits. Rudesyle and Maya Thornton each drove in a pair of runs.

The Lady Cats are scheduled to host Johnsonburg on Monday (May 16th).
